The Society

Hi I am Elizabeth, the Chairperson of Handforth Gardening Society and I would like to welcome you to our pages. We aim to entertain and instruct our members on all sorts of things to do with gardening. This includes visits to local places to discover hidden gems, learn about what there is to enjoy and pick up new ideas for our own gardens. We also have good speakers on all sorts of gardening related subjects, held monthly from September to March, then have a Spring Show and then a plant exchange, where you never know what will turn up.

The society has been going for over 50 years and has gone through a lot of changes. Now we are in the computer age, which has made a large difference to how we communicate with our members. So, we have a monthly newsletter to inform them of what is coming up soon and a few tips on what you can or should be doing in your garden. Also, a lively debate if that is needed, members can reply to the newsletter if they have comments.

The aim is to enrich the gardening experience and put what we learn to good use. I hope you enjoy our website and that it encourages you to join us at our monthly meetings.

New Members

New members are always very welcome and if you would like to join the Society please contact a member of the committee, or come along to one of our meetings. We would be very pleased to see you.
